Vibe Marketing vs Brand Building
Why AI-Generated Content Isn't Enough

Is vibe marketing the answer to brand building in the age of AI?

That answer is no. A loud, resounding, and unequivocal no.

Let's start with what vibe marketing is and then break down why it should never be considered a form of brand building.

What Is Vibe Marketing?

Vibe marketing is a recent AI-driven approach that focuses on emotional resonance rather than sales language. Basically, the robots can parlay traditional feature-based product marketing into more human and emotional marketing conversations.

Why AI Generated Marketing Alone Isn't a Strategy

Shifting into a more emotional conversation is great. It's a proven way to create greater connection with audiences. However, that emotionally connective tissue is going to quickly lose its power if every other company in your category is also serving up the same phrases.

Any emotionally intelligent voice AI gives you, it is also giving to everyone else in your category and on the planet who prompts for it. It's just a matter of time until those emotionally resonant phrases become overused and mean nothing.

AI Creates the New Marketing Jargon

In other words, AI-powered vibe marketing is pumping out the new wave of jargon. It's different words generating the same generic experience. The emperor's new clothes of marketing.

If your higher EQ language is the same as everyone else, your content won't sound resonant. It will sound insincere. And this will erode your ability to build trust, which is what actually creates the connection you're striving for.

Why Human Creativity Still Wins

Vibe marketing is a catchy little phrase for sure. But catchy phrases don't build brands. Human creativity does.

Robots may be able to talk like humans, but the fact is they don't have original thoughts, core values, or purpose-driven missions. And these are the things brands are made of.

AI engines are replicators, not creators. And powerful, unrepeatable brands are built by creators. They are original at their source. And because of this, the content they create, with both human creativity and AI support, is original.

The Right Way to Use AI for Brand Marketing

Vibe marketing is rooted in a kernel of emotional intelligence and insight, but unless you've established a unique brand stance and story, it's a short-sighted strategy.

You need to be sure these engines have ownable content to pull from when creating your marketing.

To do this, here are a few things to keep in mind.

1. Rewrite Your Web Copy to Be Brand-Centric

The first thing any AI engine will do is pull content from your website. If that's full of product jargon or the same tired vibe marketing lingo every other business is using, anything AI grabs will be generic and do little more than add to the noise in your market.

Step One - Make sure your website carries your brand voice and clearly leads with your mission. Create above-the-fold copy that simply and succinctly ties that to your solution set through a few clear differentiators.

If you can't do that without leaning into buzzwords, then you haven't yet done the work to create a brand. In which case, slow your roll on the marketing budget and get the right building blocks in place before spending on creating content.

2. Ensure Your Thought Leadership Is Genuine and Category-Focused

Once done mining your site, the next thing AI is going to do is crawl the internet for your thought leadership.

Is your thought leadership thinly disguised promotional material?

For vibe marketing to work, you need a wide swath of visionary content free from solution-bias that points to a sales agenda.

You also need to scrub any current and future thought leadership of product and industry buzzwords. This language cues the message that you're following the bandwagons rather than leading them, and leading is what thought leadership is all about.

3. Rethink the Way You Amplify Your Content (Answer Engine Optimization)

If you really want AI to help you create powerful marketing, you need to understand how to use it to reach buyers at the onset of their search.

Buyers are asking AI engines to do their comparison shopping for them. And those engines are crawling your content to serve up those comparisons. So, to keep you from getting weeded out of the robots' recommendations, you need to understand Answer Engine Optimization.

How Answer Engine Optimization Works

Optimizing for answer engines isn't about clicks or keywords. It's about mentions. The more you are mentioned, the faster the engine will find you.

Which means once you create powerful thought leadership, simply dropping it on your site or your LinkedIn is no longer enough.

Connecting with niche online communities, influencers, and micro-creators is more important than ever. And the more you're mentioned, the faster AI will find your content and serve you up in buyers' searches.

The Bottom Line on AI Marketing Tools

AI is, without question, a powerful tool for marketing. But, as is the case with any tool, its true power lies in the ability of the person implementing it.

Don't just jump on the vibe marketing bandwagon. Take a beat and get smarter about how it works behind the scenes. Robots, just like people, need to be set up for success.
